Strengthening Singapore's Built Environment in face of Climate Change and other challenges

1 October 2019, Singapore --( ASIA TODAY )-- The Architecture & Building Services (ABS) 2019 series was officially launched this morning at the Marina Bay Sands Singapore Expo & Convention Centre. The extensive three-day show which offers visitors and delegates six key architectural and building services exhibitions, and 12 industry conferences was officially launched by guest-of-honour Mr Zaqy Mohamad, Minister of State, Ministry of National Development & Ministry of Manpower, Deputy Government Whip.

In view of recent developments with regards to the announcements of Government policies pertaining to Climate Change which will impact Singapore’s Built Environment, ABS 2019 is well timed to place the spotlight on the various industries which are directly connected to the Built Environment. ABS 2019 is also an important platform where the Government announces initiatives in response to Singapore’s dynamic and ever-changing Built Environment.

This vast exposition which spans 10,000 square metres across three exhibition halls displays an array of new technologies and solutions to manage Climate Change, environmentally sustainable products, as well as the latest Virtual Reality (VR) tools employed by the Built Environment industries. Visitors will also find the latest products and services which caters to the needs of a Smart Nation, architecture and facility management industries.

Industry Showcases Pertaining to the Built Environment

ABS 2019 is driven by ArchXpo 2019, along with five other international showcases – International Facility Management Expo (iFaME) 2019, LED & Light Asia 2019, Safety and Security Asia (SSA) 2019, Fire & Disaster Asia (FDA) 2019, and Work Safe Asia (WSA) 2019. All six exhibitions are made up of a comprehensive and integrated mega platform for all building needs in Singapore and the region, co-located under one roof. A total of 10,000 visitors, conference delegates and key players from various related industries including architects, builders, contractors, developers, engineers, facility managers, government agencies, housing developers, interior designers are expected to visit the show which will be showcased by 250 exhibitors from 15 countries.

Organised by Conference & Exhibition Management Services Pte Ltd (CEMS) and Singapore Institute of Architects (SIA), ArchXpo 2019 is the 6th International Exhibition for Architecture & the Built Environment which serves as the addition to the key pillars of the Archifest series. ArchXpo 2019 also serves as a key gathering point for industry experts and talents who contribute towards architectural and the built environment design excellence, as well as an invaluable platform for the exchange of research and innovation in architectural design, practice, and education.

Specialised Conferences to Discuss New Challenges

Apart from the 6 exhibitions, ABS 2019 boasts of 12 conferences, workshops and master classes led by industry experts, which are designed to address new demands and developments which will directly affect the Built Environment. Some of the topics at the various conferences will discuss key issues facing the Built Environment industries such as Smart Nation technology, smart facility management, the safety and security of people and buildings, enhancement of fire safety in residential and commercial buildings, as well manpower management.

Prestigious Awards and Accolades

Another highly anticipated event for the local Facility Management (FM) industry at ABS 2019 is the Singapore FM Awards 2019 which is held to encourage and offer a platform to recognise companies which are leaders in FM solutions, as well as those who have made important contributions to the knowledge, practical application, and sustainable performance of Singapore’s FM industry which includes the building and real estate sectors. The awards will be presented at the Singapore FM Awards Gala Dinner on 1 October 2019.

The Merlion Awards will also honour the most outstanding innovations of the safety and security industry with five categories ranging from Surveillance Cameras, Access Control, Alarm Systems, Mobility Technology, and Security Robotics (latest category this year). The Awards aim to give outstanding companies the recognition of excellence as they showcase their exemplary products at the exhibition.
