The latest in Scandinavian design at Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair

February 6-10, it is time for Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair, the world's leading meeting place for Scandinavian design. On Saturday February 10th the trade fair is also open to the general public who want to see the latest in lighting and furniture. The fair also offers inspiration in exhibitions and lectures by nationally and internationally renowned designers.

Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair draws buyers, architects, designers and journalists from more than 80 countries. The fairattracts around 40,000 visitors, of which more than 10,000 come from abroad. Approximately 700 companies (including 300 international companies) fill Stockholmsmässan’s 70,000 sqm. Around 80 percent of these companies come from Scandinavia.

Guest of Honour 2018: Paola Navone

Architect, product designer, interior designer and artistic leader Paola Navone from Italy creates a unique installation; Thammada at Stockholmsmässan’s Entrance Hall.The visitor is invited to a colourful environment where everyday things are transformed into something special.

Design Bar 2018: Ratatouille Arena

New for this year is that Design Bar, which combines an exhibition with a top-class restaurant, is integrated with Stockholm Design & Architecture Talks. Together, they will form a completely new area for conversations, food and meetings. Designer Luca Nichetto created the framing and the concept, Ratatouille Arena, and chef Lina Ahlin from Agrikultur in Stockholm created the menu.

Stockholm Design & Architecture Talks

The fair’s forum for knowledge and discussions within the area of design and architecture hosts influential guests such as Paola Navone, Piet Hein Eek, India Mahdavi, Penda and Assemble. This year’s theme is Visionary Thinking. An extra day has been added to Stockholm Design & Architecture Talks, and its program now covers five days. An up-to-date program is available

Trend Exhibition 2018/19: EN-AW 6082

This year’s trend exhibition has been created by Halleroed; Christian and Ruxandra Hallröd, who designed store interiors for Acne Studios and Byredo, among others.The exhibition investigates themes such as real, fake and craftsmanship and is a collaboration with the Materials Library.

Greenhouse is growing and develops

Greenhouse, the fair’s area for unestablished designers, has been moved to a new, larger area. In order to highlight Greenhouse’s importance as a meeting place designer Nick Ross was given the assignment to create an exhibition, which he has named Prologue. Participants in the exhibition include Front and Oki Sato. A new addition to the 2018 fair is also the award, “Best Performance - Selected by the Greenhouse Jury”. The award ceremony will be held in Greenhouse on Wednesday, February 7, at 11:00 AM.

PANORAMA – aiming for democratic architecture

This exhibition highlights how architecture can contribute to democracy and hopes to initiate a discussion on this topic. It is a cooperation between Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair, Architects Sweden and architect-artist-designer collective, MYCKET.

Editors’ Choice Award

The jury for Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair’s award – Editors’ Choice – is composed of head editors from several of Europe’s most important design forums. The award has three categories: Rising Star, Best Stand and Best Product. The 2018 jury includes Marcus Fairs,Dezeen; Adeline Seidel, Stylepark; Costas Voyatzis, Yatzer; and Donatella Bollani, Domus. The winners will be announced at Stockholm Design & Architecture Talks on Wednesday, February 7 at 3:00 PM.

Pop Up Store

Many visitors like the possibility of being able to purchase design objects at the fair. Pop Up Store will be run this year by stylist Soraya Forsberg and Lisa Karlsson, who runs the store, uMe. The store is open when the fair is open.

Opening Hours: Tuesday - Friday 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m., Saturday 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. The general public is also welcome on Saturday, February 10.
